Introduction: La visualisation de l'information (Information visualization) est le domaine de recherche qui se concentre sur l'utilisation de techniques de représentation graphique de l'information pour aider les utilisateurs à comprendre et à analyser des grands ensembles de données. Alors que la visualisation scientifique se concentre plutôt sur la présentation des données de manière à respecter les propriétés physiques ou géométriques, la visualisation de l'information représente l'information de manière abstraite de façon à mettre en lumière de nouvelles connaissances ou structures.

Objectifs:

Il sera demandé à chaque étudiant de choisir un thème parmis ceux proposés, de lire les articles correspondants, de les synthétiser et finalement de les présenter en fin de séminaire. De plus, un rapport de 4-6 pages devra synthétiser les lectures et présenter les travaux de recherche du thème choisi. Plus concrètement par rapport au sujet les objectifs sont:

  • Apprendre les principes impliqués dans la visualisation de l'information
  • Comprendre les différentes techniques d'interaction
  • Développer un esprit critique et être capable de choisir la bonne visualisation adaptée pour une application particulière
  • Apprendre à évaluer une visualisation
  • Acquérir les connaissances pour concevoir et implémenter des visualisations innovatives

Inscription:

Les étudiants intéressés doivent s'annoncer au plus vite auprès de Denis Lalanne puisque le nombre d'étudiants sera limité à 6-8 personnes (i.e. les premiers inscrits). Le séminaire démarrera le vendredi 17 Novembre 2006 après midi et aura lieu 4 autres après midi. Plusieurs intervenants extérieurs et internes présenteront leurs recherches les plus récentes.
